Why This Reference Exists
Indiana public-record access does not place every stage of an arrest in one database. The Allen County Sheriff's Department creates county jail intake records and operates the current-inmate roster. Indiana courts hold the case that follows booking, while the Indiana Department of Correction covers people serving state sentences. Older or missing county booking material may require a request to Sheriff's Records under Indiana's Access to Public Records Act, IC 5-14-3.
